And so the questions began. Can a simple photograph evoke in the viewer more than what is actually there on the paper? Four years ago I began a quest to capture a set of images of the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay that would resonate with the viewer, tell a story using light and shadow and bring into the viewer's mind's eye an emotion and thus fulfill a promise. A compelling image synthesizes the soul of the photograph with the experience and emotions of the viewer.
